Kim Woo Bin and Shin Mina exchanged vows in a private ceremony at The Shilla Seoul on December 20th, marking a joyful milestone in their nine-year relationship.
The wedding was officiated by Venerable Pomnyun Sunim, who offered the couple grounded advice on building a lasting life together.
Kim Woo Bin personally asked the renowned monk to lead the ceremony, according to the Jungto Society, which released the wedding address on December 23rd.
Pomnyun Sunim emphasized that a healthy marriage relies on respect and understanding.
“Living together isn’t easy,” he told the couple. “Differences in perspective will inevitably lead to conflict. While marriage brings joy, it can also limit individual freedom. A healthy marriage is about deeply respecting each other’s independence.”
He noted that affection alone is not enough. “Love without understanding can sometimes turn into violence,” he said. “Love must always be grounded in understanding the other person’s point of view.”
The monk’s presence highlighted a bond formed during the couple’s most difficult times. In 2017, when Kim was battling nasopharyngeal cancer, Pomnyun Sunim provided him with spiritual counseling. Shin Mina also sought the monk’s guidance while caring for Kim during his illness.
During the ceremony, the monk recalled those days with a touching story. “Shin Mina carried offering rice on her head as she prayed when Woo Bin was suffering due to cancer treatment” he shared. “That Woo Bin has recovered and you are standing here today is the result of a profound connection.”
He also praised Shin’s character, noting her decade-long commitment to supporting underprivileged children and North Korean defectors.
Before concluding, Pomnyun Sunim reminded the couple of the weight of their public status.
“Love carries responsibility,” he said. “As public figures who receive immense love from society, conflicts between you do not remain purely personal matters.” He encouraged them to live in a way that honors the support they have received from fans over the years.
The wedding was attended by family and close friends, with Lee Kwang Soo serving as the master of ceremonies.
