Lee Si Young, who recently welcomed her second daughter, found herself at the center of unexpected controversy after posting a Christmas-themed newborn photo—only to delete it once the debate intensified.

On the 21st, Lee Si Young shared a picture of her 17-day-old daughter on Instagram, dressed in a Santa hat and swaddled among Christmas ornaments. She captioned it, “How about this for this year’s Christmas ornament?”

The so-called “born-art” shoots—where infants are styled with cute props for keepsake photos—are common among parents preparing baby albums, and many postpartum care centers even offer them as part of their services.

However, some commenters took issue with Lee’s use of the word “ornament,” criticizing the image for “treating a baby like a decoration.” Others defended her, pointing out that such photos are widely taken by parents and that the criticism was excessive, noting, “It’s a common way to capture cute newborn moments.”

As the debate grew, Lee Si Young ultimately deleted the post.

Lee Si Young married a businessman in 2017 and welcomed a son in 2018, but announced their divorce this March. In July, she revealed that she was expecting her second child—explaining that after the divorce, she became pregnant by implanting a frozen embryo on her own, without her ex-husband’s consent. The revelation sparked further controversy, though her ex-husband later stated he would “take responsibility.”

Following the birth, Lee Si Young stayed at a high-end postpartum care center costing about 50 million won ($34,000) for a two-week program.
