Suzy and Kim Woo Bin’s Netflix fantasy rom-com Genie, Make a Wish has officially soared to the top of the streamer’s global charts—proving that early concerns over its box office potential were unfounded.

According to Netflix’s Tudum Global Top 10 data for the week of October 6th–12th, the series drew 8 million views, ranking No. 1 worldwide in the non-English TV category. It also landed in the Top 10 in 50 countries and claimed the top spot in 10 (Hong Kong, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, the Dominican Republic).

Domestically, the series continues to dominate buzz rankings. Data from Good Data Corporation shows that from the first to second week of October, Genie, Make a Wish maintained the No. 1 spot in overall TV-OTT drama buzz, while its leads Suzy and Kim Woo Bin swept first and second place in the cast popularity rankings.

Penned by celebrated screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, often dubbed the “Queen of Rom-Coms,” the series once again showcases her signature storytelling touch. The romance between Genie (Kim Woo Bin), a centuries-old spirit, and Ga Young (Suzy), a woman unable to express emotion, strikes a perfect balance between comedy, charm, and heartbreak. The show also delivers a deeper message about humanity through its three-wish theme—leaving a lingering emotional resonance.

Both leads earned praise for their standout performances. Kim Woo Bin impressed viewers with his transformative acting and seamless delivery of Kim Eun Sook’s trademark witty dialogue. Suzy, tackling the complex role of a woman detached from emotion, drew acclaim for her convincing and heartfelt portrayal.

Newly released stills highlight some of the show’s most memorable moments, underscoring the strength of its cast. Alongside Kim and Suzy, Ahn Eun Jin adds intrigue as grandmother Mi Ju, Noh Sang Hyun captivates as the angle of death, Ko Kyu Pil delivers intensity as divine being Seid, while Lee Ju Young and Woo Hyun Jin round out the ensemble with bold, distinctive performances.
