Suzy opened up about her co-stars Kim Woo Bin, Song Hye Kyo, and Lee Ju Young in a heartfelt Q&A following the global success of Netflix’s fantasy romance Genie, Make a Wish—sharing behind-the-scenes memories and gratitude toward her colleagues.
Reflecting on reuniting with Kim Woo Bin nearly a decade after their last collaboration in Uncontrollably Fond, Suzy said she was deeply moved by his growth as an actor.
“Especially during the later episodes, I was genuinely surprised by the depth of his emotions,” she shared. “Since this project and our characters were completely different from before, every moment felt new and full of discovery. If we ever reunite again, I’d love to try something totally different—maybe an office drama.”
She also recalled the strong camaraderie she shared with Ahn Eun Jin and Lee Ju Young during filming.
“Ko Kyu Pil made us laugh so hard during one of the scenes that we couldn’t stop,” Suzy said, smiling. “And when we filmed the scene where Min Ji (Lee Ju Young) cries as she fails to stop Ga Young from leaving for Dubai, Ju Young asked if I could hug her once to help with the emotion. I hugged her tightly—it was such a touching moment.”
Suzy also spoke fondly of her memorable collaboration with Song Hye Kyo, who made a cameo as Genie’s ex-girlfriend.
“At first, I was so nervous because we weren’t close yet,” she admitted. “She was Genie’s ex, so I had to be super wary of her, and that was difficult—but it was such an honor. After filming, we became close. Now, every time it rains, I joke, ‘Is unnie upset today?’ and she laughs every time I say that.”
As for the varying audience reactions to Genie, Make a Wish, Suzy handled the topic with maturity.
“I think every project has people who love it and others who don’t, and that’s completely natural,” she said. “That’s why I’m even more grateful to those who enjoyed watching.”
