Disney Plus has released the first character stills of Ji Chang Wook in upcoming original series The Manipulated.

The action drama follows Tae Joong (Ji Chang Wook), an ordinary man whose peaceful life is shattered when he’s framed for a heinous crime and sent to prison. Upon discovering his entire life was destroyed by a man named Yohan (Do Kyung Soo of EXO), he embarks on a path of relentless revenge.

The newly released photos capture this stark contrast. One still shows Tae Joong enjoying his quiet, everyday life, working toward his dream of opening a garden cafe. In sharp contrast, the other depicts him as a broken man in prison, hinting at the brutal journey his character will endure.

“‘Tae Joong is a character who charges forward with nothing but revenge on his mind,’ Ji Chang Wook explained of his role. ‘I approached it by thinking of him clearing one stage at a time, becoming stronger and more ruthless.'”

Director Park Shin Woo had high praise for the actor. “Ji Chang Wook used his passion and energy to heighten the character’s realism and breathe life into him,” he said. “I have a feeling that a day will come when people say, ‘Ji Chang Wook’ is its own genre.”

The Manipulated is set to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus on Wednesday, November 5th, with the first four episodes dropping at once. Two new episodes will then be released each week for a total of 12 episodes.
