Salmokji (working title) has confirmed the casting of Kim Hye Yoon and Lee Jong Won and is officially entering production.

Salmokji is a horror film that follows a camera crew who head to a reservoir to update a road-view image, only to encounter something lurking in the deep, dark waters.

Kim Hye Yoon, who captivated viewers in Lovely Runner, will play Soo In, a woman who experiences a series of inexplicable incidents during a business trip to the reservoir.

Lee Jong Won joins her as Ki Tae, who teams up with Soo In to uncover the mystery behind the reservoir. Having showcased his versatility across a wide range of genres and roles—from Knight Flower to the youth romance Brewing Love—Lee is taking on the horror genre for the first time. This also marks his debut as a lead in a commercial film, where he’s expected to deliver a fresh and compelling performance.

With both actors recognized for their strong acting chops, much attention is focused on their chemistry as they dive into the horror genre together.

The film will be directed by Lee Sang Min, an emerging talent who has garnered recognition at multiple film festivals for his award-winning short films Honor Guard and Hamjin-abi. Production is being handled by The Lamp, the studio behind box office hits such as A Taxi Driver and Samjin Company English Class.

Salmokji (working title) is slated to begin filming in May.
