Kim Soo Hyun‘s highly anticipated fan meeting in Taiwan—his first scheduled public appearance since controversy erupted over his alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron—has been canceled just five days before the event.

On March 25th, 7-ELEVEN Taiwan, which was organizing the event, announced on its official account that the fan meeting had been canceled. “Due to adjustments in the actor’s schedule, the exclusive fan event originally set for March 30th during the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival has been canceled,” the company stated. Ticket holders have already been notified of the refund process.

Kim was expected to appear on the final day of the festival for a 40-minute meet-and-greet with fans. The event, which included plans for product lines featuring Kim’s image, had drawn major attention—not only for its scale but also for being the actor’s first public appearance since serious allegations surfaced.

Earlier this month, a controversial YouTube channel accused the actor of having been in a romantic relationship with Kim Sae Ron starting when she was still underage—allegedly lasting six years. While Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, admitted the two had dated, they insisted the relationship began only after she became a legal adult. Still, the controversy has sparked intense backlash, with the term “grooming” now widely circulating in Korean media and social platforms.

According to local reports, canceling the event could result in an estimated 1.3 billion KRW (approx. 887,000 USD) in penalties.

Gold Medalist released a brief statement in response to the cancellation, saying the event was “postponed due to safety concerns.”
