NewJeans’ independent activities have been put on hold due to a dispute over their contract with ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE.

On March 21st, the 50th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR’s request for an injunction against the NewJeans members, prohibiting them from engaging in independent activities and signing advertising deals.

Previously, NewJeans members Hani, Minji, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein held an emergency press conference on November 28th last year. They announced that since ADOR had failed to rectify violations within 14 days of receiving a notice, their exclusive contract would be terminated at midnight on November 29th. Following this announcement, they continued their independent activities and even announced a change of their team name to NJZ on February 7th.

In response, ADOR argued that the contract with NewJeans is still valid and filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation of the validity of the exclusive contract, along with the injunction against independent activities and advertising contracts.
