NJZ member Danielle has revealed behind-the-scenes stories about the excessive control she experienced during her trainee days.

Yesterday, Danielle connected with her fans Bunnies, through a livestream on the official NJZ account. During the broadcast, Danielle shared, “There were many rules (during trainee days), but I realized something later. Most of the rules didn’t have much meaning.”

Danielle recalled, “For example, this is a minor thing, but even during free time, we had to leave a message before going to the bathroom. We were constantly monitored while staying in the practice room. So we didn’t have much freedom. Before eating meals, I had to take pictures of what I ate and send them to the female manager. So the manager could check (the food we ate).”

She admitted that she and her fellow trainees complied with these rules out of fear. “I think we followed them because we felt like we wouldn’t debut if we didn’t. Like we’d get cut. Even now, I don’t think I’ve completely escaped that mindset. Maybe the other members don’t feel that way, but I did.”

According to Danielle, it was former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin who helped change their perspective. “When we met Min Hee Jin, a lot of things changed. I remember how shocked she was when she heard about the way we lived as trainees.”

Danielle added, “I wondered why they operate this system that only eliminates our creativity. I couldn’t be sure. It could be because it’s a system that has continued in this industry. Or I think it could be that the people in charge at that time wanted to control us more easily.”

Meanwhile, Danielle, along with Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein, has been in a legal dispute with ADOR since the end of last year. Both sides have maintained firm positions. The court is expected to conclude the questioning and render a decision based on additional materials received by March 14th.
