Reports indicate that Koo Jun Yup (DJ Koo) has lost significant weight while suffering extreme emotional distress as he searches for a final resting place for his late wife, actress Barbie Hsu.
According to Taiwanese media outlets including ET Today on the 26th, Wang Wei Chung, Barbie Hsu’s mentor and close friend who works as a Taiwanese film and performance producer, appeared at a press conference for his theatrical production “Tonight, There’s a Rich Person in Taipei.” This marks his first public appearance since Barbie Hsu’s passing.
Referring to Hsu, his protégé, he pleaded, “I know the media is working hard, but please let the deceased rest in peace.”
Recently, the family changed their plans to proceed with a tree burial for the late Hsu after her husband, DJ Koo, expressed that he didn’t want his wife “returning to dust.” The situation has the family now searching for a new location. Local media have reported that “they are considering finding a place for the casket or a cemetery where they can erect a statue.”
Taiwanese outlets also shared updates on DJ Koo’s condition. “As Koo Jun Yup is struggling to overcome the pain of losing his loved one, all funeral matters are being handled by his sister-in-law Dee Hsu’s husband, Mike Hsu,” they added. In an interview, Mike Hsu revealed, “Since bringing Barbie’s remains back from Tokyo, DJ Koo has been searching for a burial site.”
The media, quoting Mike Hsu, elaborated, “DJ Koo, having lost his wife, has lost a lot of weight, unlike his previously strong appearance. His wife was very distressed seeing this.”
Local media also reported that DJ Koo and the late Barbie Hsu’s family have found themselves in a difficult situation as they haven’t quickly secured a place for the deceased. Reports have emerged of neighbors lodging complaints because Hsu’s remains are still being kept at home, with no funeral having taken place despite it being almost a month since her death.
