ADOR has issued a strong denial regarding allegations that they attempted to derail K-pop sensation NewJeans’ upcoming Hong Kong ComplexCon performance.
In an official statement released on February 19th, ADOR firmly stated, “Our company has never attempted to obstruct NewJeans’ Hong Kong concert.” The label stressed, “We have confirmed that Chairman Bang Si Hyuk has not made any contact regarding NewJeans’ Hong Kong performance.”
They elaborated, “ADOR only requested the organizers to use ‘NewJeans,’ the official team name, as we’ve asked domestic media to do, and to proceed with the concert through ADOR based on our exclusive contract.”
This statement comes in response to earlier claims made by NewJeans’ parents, who alleged, “We recently heard from ComplexCon officials that HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si Hyuk personally made calls to American officials, pressuring them to cancel NewJeans members’ performance.”
The K-pop group, who recently announced their intention to perform under the name “NJZ,” also addressed a joint statement from five major Korean entertainment industry associations regarding contract tampering allegations. The group maintains, “These are false claims intended to mislead the public. The contract termination takes immediate legal effect, therefore our exclusive contract with ADOR has ended.”
The five associations referenced include the Korea Entertainment Management Association, Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association, Record Label Industry Association of Korea, Recording Industry Association of Korea, and Korea Music Content Association.
NewJeans is scheduled to debut new music at Hong Kong’s ComplexCon on March 23rd, marking their first performance under the name NJZ.
