SBS is preparing for another hit drama to return. The popular 2026 series Agent Kim Reactivated is reportedly in discussions for a second season.
OSEN exclusively reported on July 26th that SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated has started discussions for Season 2.
The drama became a major hit from the beginning, premiering with a 9.5% viewership rating and surpassing 20% by its fourth episode. It continued its strong run, recording ratings above 20% for seven consecutive episodes before ending with a nationwide average of 23.0% and a peak of 27.1%, according to Nielsen Korea.
With its strong popularity, talks for a second season came as no surprise. Lead actor So Ji Sub also expressed his hope for the series to continue as a seasonal drama rather than receiving an acting award at SBS Drama Media Day.
Season 1 followed Chief Kim and four fathers as they fought to protect their families. In the finale, Chief Kim defeated Joo Kang Chan and Joo Hak Construction before joining the Baekho Manpower Agency.
The appearance of a new character, Lee Do Gyu, has also raised expectations that Season 2 could continue with Chief Kim and the employees of Baekho Manpower Agency as the main focus.
The production team confirmed that discussions for Season 2 are underway, but no specific schedule has been decided yet.
A representative from the production company said, “Thanks to the great support and love from viewers, we are positively discussing the production of Agent Kim Reactivated Season 2. However, since Season 1 has just ended, the detailed schedule has not been finalized. We will share updates once they are confirmed.”
Meanwhile, Agent Kim Reactivated is a revenge action drama about an ordinary father who transforms into the world’s most dangerous man to save his only daughter. The series ended on July 25th.
Chairman Namkoong Geon of Fantagio, the producer of Agent Kim Reactivated said, “we were able to once again prove Fantagio’s capabilities in content planning and production through this project, as well as the competitiveness of our intellectual property. We will continue to meet viewers’ expectations by creating high-quality content and well-made productions.”
Fantagio plans to accelerate the production of upcoming dramas and other content while expanding investment and production efforts for its existing intellectual properties.
