Will Resident Playbook make its debut in 2025?
On December 13th, tvN told News1 that the summer 2025 release schedule for Resident Playbook has not been confirmed yet. They stated, “We will provide official updates once it’s finalized.”
According to a report by OSEN, Resident Playbook is currently in discussions about its potential summer release. It appears that the delay can no longer be postponed, and the team is working to finalize the schedule. The issue with contracts with streaming platforms and penalties for delays is reported to be one of the major reasons they cannot afford to postpone any longer. However, tvN emphasized that the schedule has not been finalized, and discussions are still ongoing.
Resident Playbook is a spin-off of the Hospital Playlist series, starring Go Yoon Jung, Shin Siah, Han Ye Ji, Kang You Seok and Jung Jun Won. The series will explore the vibrant hospital life and friendships among professors and residents at a major hospital.
Initially, Resident Playbook was scheduled to air in May as a follow-up to Queen of Tears. However, the broadcast was delayed after residents opposed the government’s medical school expansion policy and submitted mass resignations. In the aftermath, tvN pushed the broadcast to the second half of the year. With the ongoing conflict between the government and the medical community, the airing was postponed further and the series was absent from tvN’s 2025 lineup.
It has been reported that Resident Playbook has already completed filming, with post-production also finished. The show’s absence from the 2025 lineup initially sparked speculation about indefinite delays, but there have been recent updates hinting at its potential release.
