BTS member Suga has been fined for driving an electric scooter while drunk.
According to legal sources on the 30th, the Seoul Western District Court issued a summary order on the 27th, fining Suga 15 million KRW (approx. $11,000 USD) for violating the Road Traffic Act related to drunk driving. The amount is consistent with what the prosecution had previously requested.
A summary order is issued in cases of relatively minor offenses, where penalties such as fines or fees are imposed based on a written review without a formal trial. If Suga contests the ruling, he has seven days from the date of notification to request a formal trial.
Suga was initially charged with driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, at around 11:15 PM on August 6th. His blood alcohol content was reported at 0.227%, nearly three times the legal limit for license revocation (0.08%).
Under South Korea’s Road Traffic Act, a blood alcohol level above 0.08% results in license cancellation and a fine between 5 to 10 million KRW (approx. $3,700 to $7,400 USD) or a prison sentence ranging from one to two years. If the level exceeds 0.2%, the punishment increases to a fine of 10 to 20 million KRW (approx. $7,400 to $15,000 USD) or a prison term of two to five years.

Operating any kind of motorized vehicle while intoxicated is dangerous! Your perception, judgement, and physical motor skills are impaired. You aren’t just a danger to yourself; YOU’RE A DANGER TO OTHERS. I think some time in prison to think about the reckless behavior is merited. DeBorah
I totally agree..while Army keep saying he did nothing wrong, the way I look at it, he’s intoxicated n riding on a vehicle n if he doesn’t get fine or even jail, every person will have the same mentality…drink n drive and even accident, never hurt anyone…
He got fined…$11,000…did you not read the article before posting?! It was his first offense so the a fine without jail time was warranted.
Complete BS! He was fined $11K and his life has been turned upside down since it happened in August. It was his first offense. He apologized three different times. He knows he screwed up and said it won’t happen again. It’s his first offense so I think you’re way off base. Have you even watched the actual video? There was no reckless driving. He wasn’t weaving around. He had a helmet on, was
driving under the speed limit, was in the correct lane meant for this type of scooter. He took a sharp left hand turn off the road to park up next to his home’s curb and tipped the scooter over. There “just happened” to be a few police officers walking by when it happened. Smells like a set up to me.
