The actress shared that her acting career began with inspiration from her childhood after watching actors on TV. When the casting director found her on the street, she thought it was a perfect opportunity and started preparing in earnest.

When asked about her favorite aspects of Japanese culture, she replied that she has watched many Japanese movies and dramas since she began studying Japanese at a young age. She mentioned that she recently watched movie Monster by director Hirokazu Koreeda and was very impressed by the performances of both the adult and child actors.

The Queen of Tears may have been a huge hit in Korea, but Kim Ji Won admitted she hadn’t quite grasped its international reach until her Japanese fan meeting on July 7th. She was surprised and delighted by the turnout, especially when fans warmly called out her characters’ names from past projects.

When asked what she finds most charming about herself, Kim Ji Won answered, “my voice,” and added, “I received a lot of compliments on my voice through the drama Queen of Tears.” When asked if her voice changes depending on the role, Kim Ji Won explained, “I don’t really try to force a different voice for each character. I just figure out how they’d naturally speak, and my voice kind of adjusts on its own.”

Finally, she cited the role that she would like to take on in the future. She said that she is happy to meet new roles every time, and since she showed a lot of lovable sides through Queen of Tears, she thought it would be a good experience to try a role that is a little more sophisticated.
