Former T-ara member Areum is reportedly undergoing treatment in a hospital following what’s been described as an extreme decision amid ongoing divorce proceedings.
According to a report on the 27th, Areum was urgently transported to a hospital following her attempt and is currently receiving treatment. The cause of her drastic action is said to stem from the stress and pressure of her divorce proceedings with her ex-husband and financial extortion following phone hacking.
Earlier on the 2nd, Areum took to her Instagram to accuse her ex-husband of child abuse. “Throughout our marriage, Kim never once provided for us financially, and even went as far as gambling and taking out loans recklessly.” She continued, “I was shocked by what my kids told me during a visitation session. He threw our toddler, less than a year old, off the bed, and when our 5-year-old made noise while he and his mother were sleeping, they kicked him out of the house.”
On the 25th, Areum posted a photo of her bruised face and partially mosaic-covered body, claiming she had been assaulted by her ex-husband. Areum explained, “These were taken right after I was assaulted by my husband in November 2021,” adding, “I ran away to my parents’ house after being mercilessly beaten in front of my child and took this photo immediately.”
Areum debuted with T-ara in 2012 but left the group in 2013. In 2019, she married a businessman two years her senior, and they had two sons together. However, in December last year, she announced her divorce along with news of her remarriage to a new boyfriend.
