A Perfect Marriage – Jin Ji Hee & Kang Shin Hyo

In A Perfect Marriage, Han Yi Ju (Jung Yoo Min) is betrayed by her family and husband, but after death, she finds herself back in the past before marriage. She proposes a contract marriage to Seo Do Guk (Sung Hoon) for revenge. Han Yu Ra (Jin Ji Hee) is shocked when her half-sister, Han Yi Ju, announces her marriage to Seo Do Guk, whom she fancied. In a bid to ruin their marriage, she collaborates with Seo Do Guk’s half-brother, Seo Jung Wook (Kang Shin Hyo), and exposes their contract marriage. Jin Ji Hee has successfully shed her High Kick Through The Roof image to play a villain driven by desire, capturing the audience’s attention with her performance.

Gyeongseong Creature – Claudia Kim & Kim Do Hyun

Set against the backdrop of a tragic era, Gyeongseong Creature tells the story of two youths caught in a historical tragedy. It begins with the premise of Japanese authorities kidnapping Koreans in Gyeongseong (Seoul) for biological experiments. Wealthy merchant Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) is blackmailed by Japanese officer Ishikawa (Kim Do Hyun) to find his concubine, Myung Ja. Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee), living as a private investigator to find her missing mother, decides to join Jang Tae Sang in the search to later ask for his help. At the last destination of Myung Ja, Ongseong Hospital, they discover horrifying experiments orchestrated by Ishikawa’s wife, Maeda (Claudia Kim). The Japanese noble couple had put Jang Tae Sang and Yoon Chae Ok in jeopardy for their own purposes. Claudia Kim portrays Maeda with a calm demeanor, revealing the character’s chilling side. The sequel, set in modern times, leaves viewers curious about how the characters’ twisted fates will unfold.

Forecasting Love and Weather – Yoon Bak & Yura

Forecasting Love and Weather is an office romance drama that depicts the work and love lives of meteorological agency employees. Lee Si Woo (Song Kang) is experiencing a rut in his relationship with his colleague and lover, Chae Yu Jin (Yura). Jin Ha Kyung (Park Min Young) is busy preparing for her wedding with Han Ki Joon (Yoon Bak), a happy ending of their office romance. However, Chae Yu Jin and Han Ki Joon secretly meet and even get married behind their partners’ backs. Their selfish choices lead to stormy conflicts with Lee Si Woo and Jin Ha Kyung, while also facing the consequences themselves. The show draws parallels between unpredictable weather and the complexities of relationships, highlighting that understanding one’s partner can be as uncertain as weather forecasting.

The World of the Married – Park Hae Jun & Han So Hee

The World of the Married follows the story of Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae) as she confronts her husband Lee Tae Oh’s (Park Hae Jun) shocking betrayal. Lee Tae Oh, who has been living off his wife’s money, carries on a long-term affair with the much younger Yeo Da Kyung (Han So Hee) and maintains a shameless attitude even after being exposed. “Falling in love isn’t a crime,” says Lee Tae Oh, epitomizing his justification. Yeo Da Kyung, too, dismisses Ji Sun Woo, believing Lee Tae Oh loves her more. After losing everything to Ji Sun Woo and getting divorced, Lee Tae Oh marries Yeo Da Kyung and leaves town, only to return two years later as a success. The cycle of animosity with Ji Sun Woo begins anew. The drama gained immense popularity thanks to the infuriating actions of the villainous couple played by Park Hae Jun and Han So Hee.

Woman of Dignity – Jung Sang Hoon & Lee Tae Im

Woman of Dignity tells the story of two women from different backgrounds. On one side is Woo Ah Jin (Kim Hee Sun), who possesses not just wealth and honor but also dignity. On the other side is Park Bok Ja (Kim Sun Ah), who commits various misdeeds to climb into the upper class. But Woo Ah Jin faces a major crisis when she learns her husband, Ahn Jae Suk (Jung Sang Hoon), has had an affair with their daughter’s art teacher, Yoon Sung Hee (Lee Tae Im). Despite this, her husband shamelessly refuses to leave anyone. The drama, as the production team intended, “cynically critiques the upper class” with its provocative content, yet has been praised for its sophisticated dialogue and plot. The villainous couple’s actions and words frustrate viewers, yet their story remains compellingly watchable.

Editor Seo Hayne: I like actors as they faithfully lead through their long running-time. I also like idols who accomplish everything on stage within 3 minutes.
