Lee Chung Ah Joins ‘My Dearest,’ Teaming Up with Namkoong Min for the Third Time

Lee Cheong Ah is set to join the cast of MBC’s My Dearest.

On the 28th, J-Wide Company announced, “Lee Cheong Ah will be linked with Lee Jang Hyun (Namkoong Min),” adding that she is slated to appear as “a mysterious figure in a blue mask.”

The character Lee Cheong Ah will play is a prisoner hunter with a bold yet pure personality. She will show deep relational dynamics with multiple characters, including Namkoong Min, as a pivotal figure in the latter half of My Dearest.

This marks the third on-screen collaboration between Lee Cheong Ah and Namkoong Min. The duo previously worked together on tvN’s Awaken and SBS’s One Dollar Lawyer.

My Dearest is currently the talk of the town. The show launched with a 5% viewership and has seen a meteoric rise, hitting double digits by episodes 7 and 8.

This historical romance drama covers the Qing invasion of Joseon and poignantly portrays the intersecting love stories of four men and women. The script is penned by Hwang Jin Yeong, the acclaimed writer behind works like The Rebel and The King’s Daughter Su Baek Hyang. Hwang has poured her soul into the script, which took roughly five years and includes over 1,000 prepared episodes to create a gripping saga that seamlessly blends period drama with heartfelt romance.

The production team, including Director Kim Seong Yong, has meticulously captured the beauty of various scenic spots across the country. Great attention has been paid to historical accuracy, featuring costumes from the Joseon and Qing Dynasties, as well as the Manchu language.

The cast is also delivering career-defining performances. Namkoong Min has completely transformed into a man willing to risk it all for the woman he loves. Ahn Eun Jin is also gaining popularity for her portrayal of a strong, growth-oriented female lead.
