Lim Ji Yeon expressed gratitude to her mom for understanding her decision to star in her R-rated debut film Obsessed on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block.
During the broadcast, Yoo Jae Suk said, “I guess it must have been a tough decision to debut in such a project,” referring to her debut film. She answered, “I thought such an opportunity would never come again in my life. I liked my character Jong Ga Heun and wanted to take on a challenge through this project.”
However, she revealed that she started to feel a bit worried after the filming was over. “I was quite young to star in such a film, so I was concerned about how my parents would take it,” she said.
She added, “My mom came to the premiere event and gave me a bunch of flowers, saying, ‘You are very beautiful.’ I think what she said has kept me motivated and driven towards my goals.”
In an interview with the production team, the actress further revealed, “I worried a lot that my mom would be hurt and ashamed of me after watching the movie. I don’t know why I felt that way, but I think it was because I am her daughter.” She tearfully added, “Her words of encouragement gave me strength. Many people thought my acting was poor, and that made me think ‘I was the actress who causes harm to this film,’ which left deep scars on me. During such hardships, my parents were always supportive of me, and having them was a big source of strength. I still remember how supportive and encouraging my mom was whenever I beat myself up.”
