It looks like SF9’s Rowoon is set to continue his winning streak as the “prince of historical series.”
According to a report by Xportsnews today, Rowoon is currently under consideration for the lead role in the upcoming drama Takryu (literal title).
This new epic historical drama is about a man who begins his journey as a ruffian at Mapo Dock, the center of logistics and economy in Joseon, and eventually becomes a legend of the era. Although not based on a real figure, the show promises an authentic depiction of the socio-cultural landscape of the time.
On June 28th, FNC Entertainment confirmed that Takryu is “one of the projects he’s currently reviewing.” If he does join the project, this will be his second historical series following The King’s Affection.
Takryu is the second historical project by Cheon Sung Il, the writer behind the success of The Slave Hunters and the acclaimed series All of Us Are Dead and LUCA: The Beginning. Director Choo Chang Min, known for the movie Masquerade, which attracted 12 million viewers, and the upcoming film The Land of Happiness featuring Jo Jung Suk and Lee Sun Kyun, is set to helm his first drama. The platform for the series is still under discussion.
In addition to Takryu, Rowoon is slated to appear alongside actress Jo Bo Ah in the JTBC drama Destined with You, set to premiere in August. He is also in talks for the leading role in another historical drama, I Send Me to You (literal title).
