Song Joong Ki is set to extend his stay in Rome, Italy, following the birth of his son.

The actor’s agency HiSTORY D&C informed SPOTVNEWS on the 15th, “No plans have been set for his return.”

Song Joong Ki announced the joyous news of welcoming his first child via his fan page yesterday, writing, “I’ve finally met my baby in Rome.” He shared his delight, adding, “I am in Italy right now. Finally, here in Rome, my wife’s hometown, I met our baby. He’s a healthy boy. I am blissfully caring for my family with gratitude as both mother and baby are very healthy.”

Song and Katie Louise Saunders became legally married by registering their marriage on January 30th. Saunders got pregnant during their wedding preparations, and they decided to delay the ceremony to focus on the childbirth.

It’s likely challenging for Song and Saunders to travel back to Korea with a newborn. While Korean Air allows infants to board from seven days old, it’s generally not recommended due to their unstable body temperature regulation and immature bodily functions. It’s usually suggested to wait at least six weeks post-birth before flying.

With no pressing schedules or upcoming projects requiring immediate attention, it appears that Song will continue to stay in Rome to care for his son and his wife.

As the couple is currently relishing their joyous moment of parenthood, no concrete plans have been made yet. However, expectations are high that once their son has grown a bit more, and they return to Korea, the long-awaited wedding ceremony will finally take place.
