Lee Joo Young’s photoshoot for the April issue of Cosmopolitan was released following her attendance at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival with the movie Green Night directed by Shuai Han. For the photoshoot, Lee Joo Young created a movie-like scene with her unique mood.

In the interview that followed, she talked about Green Night, in which she stars as a mysterious green-haired girl who meets a Chinese immigrant security guard (Fan Bingbing) that wants to claim her independence.

When asked about what it was like filming Green Night, Lee Joo Young shared, “It was unfamiliar. I had to speak Chinese and there were lots of Chinese staff. I had to have a translator all the time, so there were many limitations, but later on, I could feel the emotions when I looked into Fan BingBing’s eyes.”

The actress then recalled how the director told her to act like a “small animal” in front of the camera. “Animals are instinctive and intuitive. It’s not easy to be free in front of the camera, but I trusted that the camera would follow me no matter what I did. In fact, all the shooting was done with handheld cameras. It took a long time to shoot, but the director, Fan Bingbing, and I all believed in that cinematic moment.”

About working with Fan BingBing, Lee Joo Young said, “When I saw the movie for the first time at the Berlin premiere, I thought, ‘I really loved Kim Ha (Fan BingBing) when I shot this movie.’ We met each other for the first time in a while at the Berlin International Film Festival, and we hugged each other, calling each other ‘girlfriend.'”

Lastly, when asked about her joy in acting, Lee Joo Young said, “It’s a movie. My job is movies, and I’m so happy and lucky that I still find watching movies enjoyable. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but if watching movies just becomes work, it would be really sad. I still have a deep love for movies, and I am confident that I will continue to feel this way.”
