Kang Soo Yeon Passes Away at the Age of 55: Fellow Celebrities Express Their Condolences

Kang Soo Yeon passed away on the 7th. Her fellow celebrities are mourning the death of a great actress and a person.

Kang Soo Yeon was found in cardiac arrest on the 5th at around 5 PM KST at her home in Apgujeong, Gangnam, Seoul. After receiving CPR, she was taken to a nearby hospital and received treatment but never regained consciousness. She eventually passed away on the 7th at the age of 55.

Celebrities and directors are visiting her wake, including director Im Kwon Taek, director Bong Joon Ho, director Yeon Sang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, Kim Hye Soo, Moon Geun Young, Han Ye Ri, and more. Additionally, more condolences from her colleagues are continuing on social media.

Along with the photos she took with the deceased, Ye Ji Won wrote, “I’m grateful for all the time I spent with Kang Soo Yeon.” Her co-star from Western Avenue Jeong Bo Seok shared, “The great actress Kang Soo Yeon has gone to heaven. I pray that she won’t be in pain and in peace there.”

Kim Gyu Ri posted, “When I saw her, I always thought that I wanted to become someone as awesome as her. To us, to me, she was like a lighthouse. I still don’t know how I should say my farewell to someone who has led me to the place where there’s light.” Yoon Shi Yoon said, “Sleep comfortably. Thank you for all those times.” Bong Tae Gyu wrote, “Kang Soo Yeon, sleep in peace.”

Meanwhile, the late Kang Soo Yeon started acting at the age of 4 and has lived as an actress for over 50 years. She was the first actress to be called the “world star” in Korea, becoming the first East Asian actress to win the Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival in 1987 with director Im Kwon Taek’s The Surrogate Woman. Recently, she wrapped up filming the new Netflix movie JUNG_E.
