tvN’s new series Mental Coach Je Gal Gil (literal title) finalized its full cast.
Mental Coach Je Gal Gil is the new sports drama. The drama centers around a former national athlete who quit sports after an accident. After becoming a mental coach, he helps the players suffering from a slump with retired former experts and fights against the absurd world of winner-take-all. Special Labor Inspector Jo writer Kim Ban Di and Protect the Boss and Should We Kiss First? director Son Jung Hyun will come together for the production.
Jung Woo plays Jae Gal Gil. He used to be a former national Taekwondo player. But he got permanently expelled after causing an unprecedented accident that turned the sports world upside down. Later, he re-enters the national training center as a mental coach. His experience of overcoming his trauma and his indomitable mentality will shine even brighter.
Joining him as the lead cast is Squid Game actress Lee Yoo Mi. She takes on the role of Cha Ga Eul, a former short-track gold medalist that hit a bad patch. She was once called the princess of the ice rink, but now she can’t seem to catch a break after joining the works team. While pushing herself to the limit, she meets mental coach Jae Gal Gil.
Kwon Yul plays Koo Tae Man, a former taekwondo Olympic gold medalist who is now the director of the Human Rights Center of the Sports Association. He strives to rise to a higher position with a strong desire for power.
Park Se Young turns into Park Seung Ha, a psychologist in the training center. She reunites with Jae Gal Gil, whom she thought was the worst thing that happened in her life.
Meanwhile, Mental Coach Je Gal Gil will premiere in the second half of 2022.
