Today, SM Entertainment unveiled a teaser for Taeyeon’s new song “Weekend.” However, about 20 seconds of the music video was leaked on the KBS’ variety show last weekend.
After Mr. House Husband Season 2 finished its episode on July 3rd, Taeyeon’s music video for “Weekend” was aired for about 23 seconds. However, the problem was that “Weekend” is still an unreleased song.
SM planned to release the teaser for the “Weekend” music video at midnight on the 4th. However, even before the agency dropped the teaser, Mr. House Husband inserted her MV in the episode. Even around 3:30 PM KST on July 4th, Taeyeon’s MV wasn’t edited out of the episode posted on an OTT platform.
Because of the unexpected release of the MV, fans showed their concerns, saying, “Isn’t this a leak?” or “How’s the promotion working?” Since then, no clear explanations have been released. Both SM and Mr. House Husband stated that they are “looking into the matters.”
Meanwhile, Taeyeon’s new song “Weekend” is a disco-pop genre song that combines gentle guitar melody with retro synth sound. The lyrics depict the desire to get away from the repetitive daily life and drift away on the weekends. The song will be released tomorrow at 6 PM KST.
