Blackpink’s Rosé broke the highest K-pop female solo artist ranking on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

According to Billboard on the 23rd (local time), Rosé’s solo debut song “On The Ground” debuted at No. 70 on the Hot 100 chart. This is the best performance that a K-pop female solo artist has achieved on Hot 100. What’s more impressive is that such a feat was made only with the power of music as her American promotions couldn’t be carried out properly.

Rosé’s presence on the Billboard Global 200 chart shines even more. Billboard Global 200 “ranks the top song based on streaming and sales activity from more than 200 territories around the world, including the U.S.” On this chart, “On The Ground” ranked at No.1. And this is the first time for a K-pop solo artist to land on the spot.

Numerous major foreign media highlighted Rosé’s accomplishment. Referring to her entrance into the Hot 100 chart, Forbes wrote, “Now, Rosé has earned an eighth win on the tally, and it may be just her first solo smash.” Jeff Benjamin also congratulated Rosé, “The Blackpink member is now the highest-charting female Kpop soloist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 to date!”

Meanwhile, Rosé officially made her solo debut on the 12th with her solo album R. The title track “On The Ground” topped iTunes Top Song Charts in 51 countries and ranked 8th on Spotify Global Top 50 Chart.

“On The Ground” music video has surpassed 100 million views on the 20th. Such a record was achieved in about a week of its release. And this makes the “On The Ground” music video the fastest MV by a Korean female soloist to hit 100 million views.
