The 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards will be held without any performances.

On Dec 28, Goan Chart announced, “In recognition of the seriousness of the current COVID-19 situation, we will prioritize the safety of K-pop singers, skip the entire performances, and only present awards/acceptance speeches with emcees in the studio.”

“While anxiety among agencies and singers is increasing due to the COVID-19 confirmed cases, the offline ceremony is impossible to fully prevent the infections no matter how thorough quarantine measures are taken,” they added. “We decided to break away from the performance-type award ceremony this year, judging that it could lead to a crisis that could threaten the entire K-pop industry through a group infection.”

As a result, the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards will be filmed in the studio with only emcees and a minimum number of people, and present various content, such as looking back on the history of Goan Chart Music Awards, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and interviews with special guests.

Hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk and ITZY’s Lia, the 10th Gaon Chart Music Award will be broadcast live on Mnet on Jan 3 at 7 pm KST.
