How far have you gone to celebrate your favorite star’s birthday? Sure there will be all kinds of answers, but this will be hard to beat. The influence of fandom with powerful economic power is even enabling corporate-scale support. It is the story of BTS V’s Chinese fan club Baidu V Bar.

The fan club recently announced that they will be screening V’s theme song and light show for 3 minutes on Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, on Dec 30 midnight KST (Dec 29 at 18:50 Dubai Time).

Burj Khalifa, a 163-floor building with a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft, just over half a mile), sometimes shows a colorful and dynamic LED show using LEDs installed throughout the outer wall of the building. These shows turn the building into the world’s most colorful and expensive billboard. Even the conditions to book the time for the show is quite tricky, so only super-special ads from world-renowned companies and Dubai royal are allowed.

In 2018, EXO became the first to host a video ad on the building other than Dubai royal under the sponsorship of “Dubai Media Office,” but V is the first Korean celebrity to be featured on an LED show alone, officials said. The Chinese fandom’s support has certainly gone beyond any of our imaginations.

Along with Burj Khalifa’s LED show, the Dubai Fountain, the world’s largest music fountain, will also have a fountain show in line with V’s solo song “Winter Bear.” Dubai Fountain is located in an artificial lake twice the size of a soccer field, and with 6,600 lights and 50 color projectors, the show can be seen anywhere within 20 miles (32km).
