The box office phenomenon Colony has officially surpassed 2 million moviegoers.

After scoring the biggest opening of 2026 and taking theaters by storm, Colony crossed 2 million moviegoers on the afternoon of Monday (May 25th), its fifth day in theaters. The film has also surpassed 22 billion won ($15 million) in cumulative revenue.

Set inside a building sealed off by a mysterious outbreak, Colony follows isolated survivors as they fight infected victims who evolve in unpredictable ways. After becoming the fastest 2026 release to reach 1 million moviegoers, the film has now become the year’s fastest to pass 2 million as well, continuing its unstoppable box office run.

According to the Korean Film Council, Colony recorded 2,000,005 cumulative admissions on the afternoon of yesterday, surpassing the pace of other 2026 hits including The King’s Warden, Salmokji: Whispering Water and Project Hail Mary.

With this latest milestone, Colony has now set a string of major 2026 box office records, from the year’s biggest opening score to the strongest opening weekend, the fastest climb to 1 million moviegoers and now the fastest climb to 2 million. The film also reached the 2 million mark one day faster than My Daughter is a Zombie, the top-grossing Korean film of 2025.

Audience buzz has been just as strong. Viewers praised the film’s intensity and fresh premise, with reactions including, “The immersion was incredible. Personally, I enjoyed it more than Train to Busan and World War Z,” “The birth of a whole new kind of creature. I’ve never seen anything like it,” and “It’s been a while since I saw a movie with this kind of scale. The zombies were so real and terrifying, the tension was insane, and the sound gave me chills.”

Others added, “The two hours flew by. The fresh premise and the ending had me glued to the screen,” and “It was an overwhelming experience because of how fresh the material felt.”

Holding firmly at No. 1 at the box office since its release, Colony shows no signs of slowing down as attention turns to what record it will break next.
