Gong Myung in Talks to Join Kim Yoo Jung and Ahn Hyo Seop for New Historical Fantasy Drama Adapted from a Novel

Gong Myung is considering his appearance in the new drama Hong Chun Gi (literal title).

On Oct. 9, the actor’s agency Saram Entertainment confirmed, “It is true that Gong Myung received an offer from drama Hong Chun Gi. He is positively reviewing the offer.”

Based on the novel of the same name by author Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Moon Embracing the Sun, Hong Chun Gi is a fantasy romance drama set in the Joseon era. The story revolves around Hong Chun Gi, the only female painter of the Joseon Dynasty who is briefly recorded in the actual historical records.

Earlier, Kim Yoo Jung and Ahn Hyo Seop were also reported to have been offered the lead roles in the upcoming drama. Kim Yoo Jung has been offered the role of Hong Chun Gi, Joseon’s only female painter with shining beauty and bright energy. Ahn Hyo Seop is in talks to star as Ha Ram, the male lead in the drama. Attention is focusing on if the three promising actors will join hands for this highly anticipated project.

Hong Chun Gi will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo, best known for Tree With Deep Roots, My Love from the Star, and Hyena. Writer Ha Eun, who co-wrote Be Melodramatic with director Lee Byung Heon is known to be in charge of the scripts. This upcoming drama will be programmed as an SBS drama, but no other details have been decided.
