Kwak Shi Yang is considering his appearance in the new historical fantasy drama Hong Chun Gi (literal title).

On November 2, the actor’s agency Starhaus Entertainment confirmed that Kwak Shi Yang was offered a role from drama Hong Chun Gi and is reviewing it positively.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Moon Embracing the Sun, Hong Chun Gi is a fantasy romance drama set in the Joseon era. The story revolves around Hong Chun Gi, the only female painter of the Joseon Dynasty, who is briefly recorded in the actual historical records.

Earlier, it has been reported that Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop and Gong Myung were offered the lead roles. If they confirm their appearances, Kim Yoo Jung will play the female painter Hong Chun Gi, Ahn Hyo Seop takes on the role of Ha Ram, a physiognomist who lost his sight but reads the sky and constellation, and Gong Myung plays Lee Yul, a romanticist who dreams of Joseon’s legitimacy.

The role Kwak Shi Yang has been offered is Prince Lee Yoo, who later becomes King Sejo. Lee Yoo approaches Ha Ram believing that he is the one to ascend the throne. He is the kind of person who has the idea that the power of a monarch is absolute and that the people should be ruled by a reign of terror.

Kwak Shi Yang recently showed solid performances in drama Alice, ranging from delicate emotional acting to intense action sequences, raising expectations for his quick comeback.

Meanwhile, Hong Chun Gi drew up an outline for its cast lineup and is preparing for its first filming.
