BLACKPINK became No. 2 global artists by YouTube subscribers in just four years of their debut.
According to YG Entertainment, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel surpassed 48.8 million at 4:55 a.m. on Sept. 29 KST. This is an unrivaled figure among female artists and the second among all artists.
BLACKPINK beat out Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Ed Sheeran and most recently pushed down the American DJ Marshmello to No. 3. Now, Justin Bieber, who has 57.2 million subscribers, is the only artist who stands in front of BLACKPINK.
Above all, the steep rise is remarkable. BLACKPINK has newly secured millions of YouTube subscribers every time they released a new song, continuing their record-breaking streak on Billboard Hot 100 and the Official Singles Top 100. The number of YouTube subscribers is one of the most objective indicators of overseas popularity and recognition, making this achievement all the more meaningful.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is scheduled to release their first full-length album THE ALBUM on Oct. 2 (12 a.m. EST & 1 p.m. KST). Attention is focusing on whether they will make it to the top in terms of YouTube subscribers with this upcoming smash.
