Im Sung Han, the Doyenne of Makjang Dramas, Confirms Her Return
Attention is drawn to the news of writer Im Sung Han’s comeback. Though she earned the bad name of being called “the doyenne of makjang dramas,” she has never failed in terms of viewership. She, who announced the end of her writing career after finishing the 2015 drama Apgujeong Midnight Sun, recently signed an exclusive contract with Jidam, a drama production company, and is currently working on a new project. Her return project, Marriage Story (literal title), is known to be a seasonal drama that aims to premiere in the first half of next year and is most likely to be programmed in the TV Chosun network. As it is her comeback in five years, the actors who have appeared in her previous works will join forces. New Tales of Gisaeng star Sung Hoon became the first to confirm his appearance, and Lee Tae Gon from Dear Heaven and Assorted Gems was also reported to be making his comeback to the small screen after seven years. The final lineup is yet to be finalized, and filming will officially begin after the Chuseok holiday.
Actress Oh In Hye Passes Away
On Sept. 14, the tragic news of actress Oh In Hye shocked the nation. It was reported that Oh In Hye was found at her home in a cardiac arrest early in the morning and was taken to a hospital. After receiving first aid at a nearby hospital, she briefly showed signs of recovery, but eventually failed to regain consciousness and died on the same day. The funeral was held behind closed doors to follow bereaved families’ wishes, and according to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station, Oh In Hye’s autopsy revealed that she had committed suicide.
