Reawaken Man: The Red has confirmed a September theatrical release and unveiled its first poster.
The film follows Seok Hwan (Koo Kyo Hwan), an unemployed job seeker whose only real asset is his unfounded confidence. After dying, he discovers that he has the ability to come back to life 72 hours later — only to find himself caught in a mysterious pursuit.
After a busy year with Once We Were Us, Colony and the drama We Are All Trying Here, Koo Kyo Hwan is taking on yet another transformation with Reawaken Man: The Red.
As Seok Hwan, the actor is expected to bring his signature offbeat energy to a man who becomes more formidable each time he comes back from the dead. The film also marks Koo’s first full-fledged action role, with the action set to grow more intense each time Seok Hwan revives.
Joining him are Shin Seung Ho of Weak Hero Class 1 and the D.P. series, Kang Ki Young of Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Kim Sia of Sweet Home 2, 3.
Koo Kyo Hwan shows off a whole new side in the film’s first poster. Despite the cuts on his face and a wall riddled with bullet holes behind him, Seok Hwan looks surprisingly relaxed — fitting for a man who has learned that death isn’t exactly the end.
The actor also rocks vivid red hair for the role, adding to the character’s bold new look.
“I died. But I came back,” reads the poster’s tagline, teasing Seok Hwan’s unpredictable journey and increasingly explosive action.
Reawaken Man: The Red is produced by Yong Film, the company behind titles including The Price of Confession, Romantics Anonymous, 20th Century Girl, and The Beauty Inside.
The film is set to hit theaters in September.
