During a livestream on July 27th, Jungkook shared his excitement. “I really enjoyed it. I saw it in 4DX, and it was so much fun,” he said. He admitted he watched the movie with his “fists clenched” and told fans, “The pacing is insane.”
He later posted a short review on social media: “Hope is fun.” Director Na Hong Jin reposted the message and thanked the K-pop star.
Directed by Na Hong Jin of The Wailing, Hope follows the chaos after a mysterious alien appears near the Korean Demilitarized Zone. The cast features Hwang Jung Min, Jo In Sung and Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon.
Critical reception has been mixed. Some praise the film’s intense direction and scale, while others find the plot too complex.
Even so, the box office numbers remain strong. Hope brought in over 103,000 viewers on July 27th, pushing total attendance past 3.5 million, according to the Korean Film Council. Jungkook’s shoutout is giving it an extra push as it closes in on 4 million.
