Jeon Jong Seo may be heading to Netflix for her next film.
According to a report on July 28, the actress has been offered the female lead role of Ahai in the Netflix original film SHAVING (working title). Her agency ANDMARQ confirmed that she received an offer and is “positively reviewing” the project.
Ahai is said to be one of the key characters at the center of the story. According to industry sources, the production initially held a large-scale audition in hopes of discovering a new actress for the role before the script was ultimately sent to Jeon.
SHAVING is a period fantasy film inspired by dokkaebi, supernatural beings from Korean folklore. The project comes from Onda Works, the production company behind the blockbuster hit The King’s Warden, and has been drawing industry attention since its early development stages.
Ahn Tae Jin, who directed The Night Owl and the drama The Second Signal, is set to helm the film.
Kim Do Hoon has already been cast in the lead role, while Lee Joon Gi has reportedly been offered the part of a powerful villain and is also considering the project.
The potential reunion between Ahn and Lee is drawing particular interest, as Ahn previously worked as an assistant director on Lee’s breakout film King and the Clown.
Known for her commanding screen presence and intense performances, Jeon would bring another major name to the cast — and could show a new side of herself in the period genre.
Blending Korean folklore, historical drama and fantasy, SHAVING is shaping up as one of Netflix’s more distinctive Korean film projects, with Kim Do Hoon, Lee Joon Gi and Jeon Jong Seo all potentially joining forces under Ahn Tae Jin’s direction.
