Seo Soo Min may have just starred in one of the year’s biggest TV hits, but she’s still working a part-time job.

The rookie actress, who played Kim Min Ji, the daughter of So Ji Sub’s character in SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated, sat down for an interview on July 27th following the show’s finale.

She admitted she was nervous before her first-ever interview began, asking reporters if she could hold a squishy while answering questions.

“I really didn’t think it would do this well,” she said of the drama. “I knew it had a great cast, so I thought it would do well, but for it to become this successful feels like a dream.”

Taking on the role of So Ji Sub’s daughter in a high-profile webtoon adaptation came with plenty of pressure.

“I was really nervous,” Seo said. “Since it was based on a webtoon, I figured fans of the original might wonder whether a rookie actress could really pull off Min Ji. And because it was my first time acting, I was worried I might let people down.”

She recalled being especially tense on her first day of filming with So: “I completely froze because I thought I couldn’t make a mistake. But he gave me a strawberry candy and told me, ‘Let’s do our best.’ I calmed down right away.”

Seo said she initially called So “sunbaenim,” but over time, that naturally changed to “Dad.”

“My birthday happened during filming, and he gave me DAY6’s autographs,” she recalled. “At the time, I still wasn’t used to being on set and I felt bad because I thought my acting wasn’t good enough. The second I saw the gift, I cried.”

Agent Kim Reactivated premiered to a 9.5% nationwide rating and quickly climbed past 20%, ending its 10-episode run at 23.0%, according to Nielsen Korea.

But despite appearing in a major hit, Seo revealed she’s still working part-time. “I’m still working,” she said. “I’m only saying this now because I’m about to quit at the end of July. I work at a takoyaki place.”

She added, “I started after filming wrapped. I wasn’t shooting another drama, and I didn’t want to just sit around doing nothing.”

As for why she’s leaving? “The takoyaki shop is closing down,” she said with a smile.

Seo said she may look for another part-time job, explaining, “I love acting and being an actress, but I also think it’s important to have the experience of earning money in an ordinary, everyday way.”

She also said she would welcome a second season of Agent Kim Reactivated. “I’d really love it if there were a Season 2,” she said with a laugh. “Even if I’m not in it, I’d still be happy.”

Seo also revealed that before choosing acting, she received offers from a long list of major entertainment companies.

“I heard from so many idol agencies — SM, HYBE, YG, THEBLACKLABEL and others, basically everyone except JYP,” she said. “I also got offers from modeling agencies, influencer agencies and acting agencies.”

But acting was always her first choice.

“I wanted to act so badly that I politely turned down all the idol offers and only met with acting agencies,” she said. “That’s how I ended up with my current agency.”

Seo will also join the cast and crew on the drama’s reward vacation, something she said feels especially meaningful after missing out on a graduation trip with her family and friends because of filming.

“I’m really happy I get to go on this trip,” she said.
