BLACKPINK’s ‘BOOMBAYAH’ Surpasses 900 Million Views, Making the Group the First To Have Three MVs Reach this Record

BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH” music video passed 900 million views on YouTube.

In addition to “BOOMBAYAH,” he music video for “DDU-DU-DDU-DU” became the most viewed K-pop music video with 1.2 billion views, and the music video for Kill This Love reached 900 million views. BLACKPINK is the only K-pop group to have three music videos surpass 900 million views.

On the 10th, YG Entertainment confirmed this record at 12:47 PM and posted a congratulations message on their official blog.

“BOOMBAYAH” and “Whistle” were BLACKPINK’s debut tracks. The addictive and powerful chorus and the exciting drum beats of “BOOMBAYAH” are particularly memorable. Ever since its release in August of 2016, global music fans have continued to love it, and now the dance practice video is almost about to reach 200 million views.

BLACKPINK reaffirmed their title of “YouTube Queen” after releasing the pre-release single of their first full-length album.

The music video for “How You Like That,” which was revealed on June 26th, amassed 86.3 million views on the first day and broke YouTube’s record for “most views in 24-hours.” It also claimed multiple Guinness World Records.

The popularity of “How You Like That” not only raised the status of K-pop but also introduced more people to the BLACKPINK fandom. The subscriber count of BLACKPINK’s official YouTube account grew by 3.5 million in 2 weeks. As of today, 41 million people are subscribed to the channel.

Through 19 videos, BLACKPINK has reached 10 billion total views. This is an unbroken record amongst other K-pop groups.
