As the fact that BLACKPINK‘s Lisa got scammed by the former manager was made public, YG Entertainment announced their official statement.
They wrote,
“After completing an internal investigation, we found out that Lisa became the victim of fraud by her former manager A.
According to Lisa’s wish for a smooth settlement as he was once her trusted former manager, A has reimbursed some of the sum, and the rest was agreed on the reimbursement plan. Now, he has left the company.
We apologize for causing concerns to fans who love our artist. We are very embarrassed by A’s behavior of abusing the trust with artists, and we feel responsible for management and supervision. We’re working on measures to prevent such an unfortunate incident from happening again.”
It has been reported that A received about 1 billion KRW (approx. 816,110 USD) from Lisa, saying that he would find the perfect real estate for Lisa, and wasted that money in gambling. Now, he has been confirmed to have resigned.
Even though the crime was committed by an employee’s personal deviation, YG Entertainment is also being criticized for failing to properly manage its employees.
