BTS Tops Billboard 200 for Four Consecutive Times in the Shortest Time Period After The Beatles

Billboard reported on March 1 that BTS’s fourth album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 topped the Billboard 200, the main album chart. In particular, they noted that “BTS has achieved the top for four consecutive albums in the shortest time frame since Beatles, who recorded a year and five months.”

From Yesterday and Today, released in July 1966 to Magical Mystery Tour, released in January 1968, The Beatles topped the Billboard 200 for four consecutive times in a year and five months. Now, BTS holds the record after Beatles in 52 years. From LOVE YOURSELF ‘Tear’, released in June 2018, to LOVE YOURSELF ‘Answer’, released in September 2018, to MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA from April last year, to the most recent album, BTS has topped the Billboard 200 four times in a row in a year and nine months.

Billboard also added that the album sales of 422,000 (as of February 27) for MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 is the highest sales as a group artists in nearly four years after One Direction album, which sold 459,000 copies in December 2015. They also commented that this album currently ranks the top of this years album sales and that the numbers continue to rise.

BTS had previously sold a total of 3,378,633 copies in the first week of its release in Korea, and immediately after its release, it topped iTunes top albums charts in 91 countries and Japan’s Oricon Daily Chart.
