Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy Take Charge of My Heart has set its premiere for October 9th and unveiled a teaser poster and trailer introducing its unusual central romance.
Based on the web novel of the same name, the series follows Baek Ho Rang (played by Kim Young Kwang), a third-generation chaebol whose artificial heart runs on a battery, and Na Bo Bae (Chae Soo Bin), a drama writer with a mysterious electrical ability.
The teaser poster highlights the pair’s chemistry as they stand side by side holding hands, with pink sparks appearing between them and a charging icon lighting up above their heads. A glowing switch also appears over Ho Rang’s heart alongside the tagline, “Charged by Touch, Drained by Distance, Shocked by Love!”
The teaser opens with Bo Bae revealing the secret she has kept since childhood. After being struck by lightning when she was young, she developed the ability to electrically shock anyone she touches, forcing her to keep her distance from others.
Ho Rang, meanwhile, is an executive director at TS Resort who is preparing for both a battery replacement surgery for his artificial heart and the succession of TS Group.

When the two unexpectedly meet and accidentally kiss, Bo Bae discovers that her electrical power has no effect on him. Realizing she may have finally found someone she can safely touch, she desperately tries to keep him close, only for Ho Rang to bluntly reject her.
Their connection takes another turn when a hospital blackout causes Ho Rang’s artificial heart battery to run out on the day of his surgery. For reasons neither of them understands, however, being near Bo Bae begins recharging his heart.
At the same time, Bo Bae is nearing the end of her writing contract and is told by a director to come up with a “steamy adult romance.” Having never been able to properly date because of her powers, she finds herself at a loss.
Ho Rang then offers her an unusual deal: a “physical contact contract” that would allow him to keep his heart charged.
“Just recharge me for three months, until my next surgery,” he tells her.
Take Charge of My Heart is directed by Park Soo Won, known for Work Later, Drink Now 2 and Birthcare Center. The series premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 9th.
