Han Ye Ri is standing by her Baeksang Arts Awards red carpet look despite the online ridicule it received.
On May 15th, the actress shared a candid message on Instagram addressing the reactions to the white floral gown she wore to Baeksang earlier this month.
“No matter what anyone says, my dress was the prettiest to me,” Han Ye Ri wrote. “I simply wore the dress I wanted to wear.”
She continued, “My hair is short right now, and my staff did their absolute best. Just because it’s an awards show doesn’t mean every look has to play it safe. I was beautiful enough that day.”
Han Ye Ri also joked that she only recently saw the online discourse, even adding hashtags including “#Baeksang,” “#HanYeRi” and “#Worst.”
The actress attended the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards red carpet on May 8th, wearing a white dress featuring bold floral detailing across the chest. While some praised the look for being unique, others mocked the design online, with some comparing the embellishment to a fried egg.
Posts labeling Han Ye Ri one of the event’s “worst dressed” stars quickly spread across online communities and social media.
Still, many fans rallied behind the actress after her response, leaving supportive comments like, “If it’s the best in your eyes, that’s all that matters,” “It suited you perfectly,” and “The dress was beautiful and refreshing.”
