Park Seo Joon, Um Tae Goo and Jo Hye Joo are set to headline Disney Plus’s upcoming crime noir series Born Guilty.
Based on the popular Kakao Webtoon of the same name by writer Imugi, the series is set in a lawless city during the 1980s redevelopment boom. It follows two men chasing a life-changing score—a ruthless figure known as “Paengi” and a survival-driven gang member called “Saengdak”—as they risk everything in a dangerous gamble.
Park Seo Joon takes on a bold new role as Paengi, a mysterious and dangerous figure who appears amid the chaos of pre-Olympics redevelopment. As he dives into the drug trade, he pulls everyone around him into a spiral of ambition and destruction.
Um Tae Goo plays Saengdak, a gang member who betrays his organization after accepting Paengi’s high-stakes offer, setting off a chain of events that upends his life.
Jo Hye Joo stars as Bok Hee, a key supplier in the drug operation and Paengi’s first love. Her character reunites with him under tense circumstances and shakes up the story with unpredictable choices.

The cast reportedly showed intense chemistry from their very first table read, quickly immersing themselves in their roles.
“It’s a story and character I’ve been waiting for,” Park Seo Joon said. “I think it’s a project that naturally makes you ambitious as an actor.”
Um Tae Goo added, “It’s a fun script with a wide range of characters. I feel both nervous and excited, and I’ll do my best.”
Jo Hye Joo shared, “The period setting and each character’s story really stood out. It was such a compelling script that I wanted to join right away.”
The series will be directed by Hong Won Chan, known for the action film Deliver Us from Evil, marking his first foray into series storytelling.
Born Guilty is currently in production and will be released on Disney Plus.
