Byeon Woo Seok’s icy royal heart begins to thaw after meeting IU in the latest teaser for Perfect Crown.
The upcoming MBC Friday-Saturday drama released a new teaser centered on Prince Yian, played by Byeon Woo Seok, ahead of the show’s premiere on April 10th.
The teaser opens with the prince’s piercing gaze as he quietly holds power within the royal court while a young king sits on the throne. Known for his natural authority and strong character, Prince Yian has the support of the public but remains a target of palace politics—particularly from Queen Dowager Yoon I Rang (Gong Seung Yeon).
But the prince shows a completely different side when he is with Sung Hee Joo, played by IU.
In softer moments, he gently reassures her, saying “Stay still,” “Are you scared?” and “I’m doing this for you.” The two are also seen dancing a waltz together in casual clothes, hinting at the emotional shift that begins after their unexpected contract marriage.
The teaser also raises the tension as darker forces begin to close in on the prince. Queen Dowager warns, “Hunting requires patience,” as scenes of a dangerous car chase and a wounded Prince Yian, blood running down his head, flash across the screen.
As the royal family’s second son, Prince Yian has long lived under strict expectations that he must neither stand out nor shine. But meeting Sung Hee Joo, a powerful chaebol heiress who faces her own social barriers, begins to change his path.
Set in a modern-day constitutional monarchy version of South Korea, Perfect Crown tells the story of a wealthy businesswoman frustrated by her commoner status and a prince who has everything in name but nothing in reality.
The drama premieres April 10th at 9:40 PM KST on MBC.
