The South Korean government has posthumously awarded Lee Soon Jae the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit (1st Class), also known as the Gold Crown Medal. It is the highest distinction in South Korea’s Order of Cultural Merit, given for outstanding contributions to the development of culture and the arts.

With more than 140 works to his name, he was loved by all generations for his sincere acting and his warmth as a person, spanning dramas, plays, variety shows, and sitcoms.”
