The legal battle between entertainment agency Attrakt and the former members of the viral girl group FIFTY FIFTY has officially begun. The first court hearing for Attrakt’s 13 billion won ($9.6 million) damages lawsuit against former members Saena, Aran and Sio was held in private at the Seoul Central District Court today, August 22nd.

The lawsuit involves 12 individuals, including the three former members, their parents and Ahn Seong Il, the CEO of the production company The Givers, who Attrakt alleges interfered with their contracts. The agency has stated this is a “partial claim,” meaning the total amount sought could increase as the trial proceeds.

The trial was initially scheduled for August of last year but was postponed when the members filed a counterclaim demanding a full audit of Attrakt’s financial records before the damages case could proceed.

The conflict first began in June 2023, when the original four members of FIFTY FIFTY filed an injunction to suspend their contracts. They alleged that Attrakt had violated its duties by failing to provide transparent financial data and neglecting their health. The court ultimately dismissed their request two months later.

Following that decision, the group split. Member Keena returned to Attrakt and is now part of a reorganized FIFTY FIFTY lineup. The other three members, Saena, Aran, and Sio, had their contracts terminated by the agency. They have since signed with a new company, formed the girl group ABLUM, and continue to work with producer Ahn Seon Il.
