Choi Min Sik and Han So Hee are bringing their cross-generational office chemistry to theaters this Chuseok season.
The Intern has set a September 16th release date and unveiled its first poster and trailer.
The office drama follows Sun Woo, a young CEO played by Han, and Ki Ho, a senior intern played by Choi who brings 37 years of professional experience to her fashion startup.
The film is a Korean remake of the hit 2015 Hollywood movie of the same name, reimagined for Korean audiences. It is directed by Kim Do Young, known for Once We Were Us.
The poster shows Ki Ho and Sun Woo heading to work side by side. His excitement ahead of his first day contrasts with her confident CEO presence, teasing the unlikely partnership ahead. The tagline reads, “Starting work today.”
In the trailer, Ki Ho makes an impression during his interview with a witty answer: “My strength is that I have a lot of experience. My weakness is that I also have a lot of age.”
He soon joins fashion startup Wootutu as its newest intern. At his desk, Ki Ho carefully arranges his briefcase, thermos and favorite snacks before searching online for tips on working with younger coworkers and decoding the latest slang.
Though he is a seasoned professional, the scenes tease his very real struggle to adjust to life as a rookie intern.
Sun Woo, meanwhile, appears taken aback after reading his résumé, creating subtle tension from their first meeting.
“Hello, I’m Kim Ki Ho, the new intern,” he says with a polite bow.
Kim Jun Han and Ryu Hye Young also join the cast as the company’s vice president and secretary, rounding out the workplace ensemble.
The Intern opens in theaters nationwide September 16th.
