Go Min Si’s name is noticeably absent from the official poster of her reported next project The World of Love, but her agency stated the omission has nothing to do with ongoing school bullying allegations.
Directed by Yoon Ga Eun, The World of Love follows the unexpected events that unfold for an ordinary high school girl named Ju In. The film marks Yoon’s third feature after gaining international recognition with shorts Guest (2011) and Sprout (2013), which screened at major festivals including Berlin, Clermont-Ferrand, and Busan. Yoon’s feature debut The World of Us (2016) was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival and earned her the Blue Dragon Award for Best New Director, followed by The House of Us (2019), which further solidified her reputation as one of Korea’s most promising filmmakers.
Go Min Si was first linked to The World of Love in November of last year. The highly anticipated film is slated for release in October, and unveiled its official poster on August 11th. However, the credits listed cast members Seo Su Min, Jang Hye Jin, and Kim Jung Sik—with Go’s name missing. The absence sparked speculation online, with some suggesting her role was too small to be included, while others pointed to her recent school bullying scandal as a possible reason.
On August 20th, Go’s agency Mystic Story strongly denied the latter, telling Ten Asia: “Her name was not removed because of the controversy. She is making a cameo appearance, so her name was never meant to be included on the poster.”
The clarification comes three months after accusations of school violence against Go spread online in May. At the time, Mystic Story firmly denied the claims, calling them “entirely false and baseless,” and stressed, “We confirmed directly with the actor that the allegations are untrue. We believe in our artist.” No further statement has been released since.
Earlier this summer, Go Min Si was also reported to star in Netflix’s Grand Galaxy Hotel, but casting ultimately fell through in June, with newcomer Shin Sia taking over the role. Meanwhile, her appearance in the comedy Perfect Job (working title) remains intact, with no changes to her participation.
