tvN’s new drama Pro Bono (literal title) has confirmed Jung Kyung Ho and So Ju Yeon as its leads.
Set to premiere in the latter half of 2025, Pro Bono is a comedic human legal drama following a status-obsessed judge who reluctantly becomes a public interest lawyer.
The series brings together writer Moon Yoo Seok, who delivered back-to-back courtroom hits with The Devil Judge and Miss Hammurabi, and director Kim Sung Yoon, who cultivated a dedicated fanbase through works like Love in the Moonlight and Itaewon Class.
Jung Kyung Ho will play Kang David, a former judge turned public interest attorney. Kang is a legal influencer with hundreds of thousands of social media followers, admired for his impeccable work ethic and polished image. After becoming entangled in an unexpected incident that derails his promising career, he steps down from the bench and begins a new chapter as a public interest lawyer in a dimly lit corridor far from the spotlight. Will the status-hungry Kang be able to reclaim his former glory?
So Ju Yeon takes on the role of Park Ki Peum, who has a personality that’s the complete opposite of Kang David. Park is a public interest lawyer who became a legal enthusiast after developing a habit of diving deep into her various interests. She considers it healing to help honest citizens who rely on the beautiful letter of the law, driven by her mission to advocate for human rights and social justice.
Together, Kang David and Park Ki Peum meet as attorneys in the public interest division of the “Pro Bono” legal team, where they represent victims who have nowhere else to turn, funding their work with money earned from representing wealthy clients. Their partnership promises thrilling catharsis, combining Kang’s intimate knowledge of the powerful’s tactics with Park’s dedication to finding ways to help victims.
