Celebrities Rally for Wildfire Relief With Donations: Lee Jong Suk, Shin Mina, Kim Woo Bin & More

As devastating wildfires continue to spread across South Korea’s southeastern Yeongnam region, celebrities from every corner of the entertainment industry are stepping up and donating millions of KRW.

Following IU’s generous donation of 200 million KRW (approx. 136,000 USD) reported yesterday, her boyfriend, Lee Jong Suk, stepped up the next day, donating 100 million KRW on March 27th to provide emergency aid and relief supplies for wildfire victims.

Beloved couple Shin Mina and Kim Woo Bin, known for their consistent philanthropic work, each gave 50 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross. “I hope all the firefighters, rescue workers, and volunteers on the frontlines stay safe,” said Shin Mina. Kim Woo Bin added, “I hope this can bring some comfort to the victims. I’m truly grateful to the firefighters, volunteers, and all those working to put out the fires.”

Celebrity couples continued to pour in support: Kim So Yeon and Lee Sang Woo gave 50 million KRW, Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon 120 million KRW, and Paik Jong Won and So Yu Jin gave 130 million KRW.

Byeon Woo Seok and Cha Eun Woo donated 100 million KRW, while Han Ga In, Uee, Han Ji Min, Hyeri, Go Youn Jung, and Kim Ji Won each contributed 50 million KRW in individual donations.

K-pop idols also joined in force: Seventeen donated a staggering 1 billion KRW to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. JYP Entertainment donated 500 million KRW to World Vision, and SM Entertainment contributed 300 million KRW to Hope Bridge.

On the individual front, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Red Velvet’s Seulgi both donated 100 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross, while BLACKPINK’s Jennie also gave 100 million KRW to Hope Bridge. G-Dragon donated 300 million KRW, using profits from his recent concert tour. ENHYPEN’s Jungwon donated 30 million won to Hope Bridge, NCT’s Doyoung contributed 50 million won to The Promise, a disaster social welfare organization, and another 50 million won to the Fruit of Love. Wendy donated 50 million won to the Fruit of Love, and TWICE’s Jihyo also gave 50 million won to the Fruit of Love.

Meanwhile, BTS members J-Hope,RM and Suga gave 100 million KRW each—J-Hope and RM through Hope Bridge and Suga via the Korean Red Cross. IVE also gave a combined 200 million KRW, aiming to support not only wildfire victims but also improve working conditions for firefighters serving on the frontlines.
